ISTANBUL AIRPORT

The New Istanbul Airport holds a special significance as the jewel of the Middle East and Turkey's gateway, offering every visitor their first impression of Turkey and evoking the crossroads of different cultures.

The most prominent features in the design of the New Istanbul Airport are the use of traditional Turkish architectural elements in the design of arches and columns, and the creation of a fluid transition on the surfaces. Therefore, for the design of the bridge facade in front of the airport, we considered the inclusion of arches, domes, and courtyards. Neutral colors were used in the body of the design, with red tones symbolizing the Turkish flag. As arches are a recurring element in historical Turkish architecture, this project also consists of a repeating modular form.

As a work of art, the design of this project will engage all the viewer's senses within the space, creating a unique sensation for passengers under this extraordinary space. This design blends the fluidity and movement of the airport’s space with ancient Turkish architecture, and by playing with wind, light, color, volume, and sound (if it’s possible to move these pendants), it will create a natural symphony orchestra-like experience.
